Hello fellow vapers and haven dwellers :D

Because things on forums are not always immediately obvious I thought it best I highlighted two specific features.

    Themes
First up is themes. By default, the forum uses a light theme, but there is also a dark theme available for those that prefer that kind of look. The dark theme uses light text with dark backgrounds but retains the same VH green as the light theme. Other than that they should behave identical.

There are two ways to set your current theme: first, on any page click the theme name displayed at the bottom left (Flat Awesome / Flat Awesome Dark). This brings up a popup where you can choose your desired theme. The second way is to navigate to your preferences - this can be found by hovering over your username in the top right corner and clicking preferences, or by visiting your profile page and following the link on the left hand side. Once on your preferences page, simply select your desired theme from the "Style" dropdown.

    Smilies
The next feature is emoji/emoticons/smilies. There are 5 different categories of emoji available for you to choose from: Standard (some basic defaults), Smilies (an extended set of emoji smilies), People (people related emoji), Sky (sun/moon/earth/etc), and Animated (a set of animated emoji). To access these open the smilies panel and select the desired tab at the top of it. You can of course mix and match them any way you want in a post.

Edit 1: Added 2 more tabs of emoji with tons of new stuff (see this post for details).

    That's it for now...have fun :)

    You are welcome :)
I totally agree...I love white on dark way more than the other way around.
Can't understand why dark on white is considered "normal" ;)

Awesome! I don't spend enough time on facebook - didn't even know it can do that :openmouth:

As a developer, I spend way too much time behind a monitor so I always opt for darkness to spare my poor little eyes - the alternative is wearing sunglass indoors, and then people look at me funny :sunglasses::tongueclosed:

Heh :D I have two pairs of sunglasses. My perscription ones are a very light tint. I've often spent far too long inside wearing them.

I use stylish for that - Google and Youtube are also themed dark :)

Ooo, that's clever...I've used Stylish before, but never for making sites go dark - thanks for the inspiration, I'm off to paint the web in dark shades of grey :raisedhands:

    I've used this before
    https://justgetflux.com/

Basically it just adjusts the monitor's brightness according to the time of day - so that white backgrounds don't burn out your eyes at night and keep you awake :)

Nice, I'll give that a go as well, thanks @Derick.

I use Twilight (not the glittery vampires :tongueout:) on Android and it works wonders

Never even thought of looking for one for the desktop

@Derick I have used that in the past for its temperature adjustments and brightness as I'm not a good sleeper (as well as lux auto brightness on Android) and found that it does reduce strain on my eyes but the monitor colour (besides the temperature stuff) is also affected and I'm one of those pain in the ass people who calibrate their screens.

Highly recommended though! Lux auto brightness if you're using a Samsung phone too, their displays are always too cold and using the astronomer setting helps with the whole light temperature and sleep thing.

Thanks for that. Being a bit photosensitive the dark theme helps a lot. Even for gaming I can't live without my gunnars for the slight tint.

I had to make a new avatar to fit with this theme even. Can't help but embrace it ;)
